Work that suits real kitchen projects
At KZN Catering Equipment, career paths are tied to the work we do every day for restaurants, hospitals, canteens and institutional kitchens. Some roles are office based in Glen Anil, while others are out on site in Durban North, Umhlanga, Pinetown, Ballito and Pietermaritzburg. We need people who understand that a kitchen project is never just about equipment, it is about correct layout, clear communication and getting the handover right the first time.
We hire for design support, procurement, site coordination, installation, service and workshop related tasks. If you are steady under pressure, respect safety rules and can work with contractors, chefs and facility managers, you will fit in well here.
Roles we commonly recruit for
We do not keep a fixed vacancy list on this page, because staffing changes with projects, tenders and service calls. Instead, we look for people across these areas:
- Kitchen design and layout support
- Equipment specification and procurement coordination
- Installation and commissioning assistance
- Extractor and stainless fabrication support
- Preventive maintenance and breakdown repair work
- Stores, admin and project coordination
Some jobs need trade experience. Others suit people with good admin habits, strong follow through and an eye for detail. If you have worked in food-service, refrigeration, plumbing, sheet metal, electrical support or hospitality maintenance, tell us about it.
What we expect from our team
Our work often happens in busy kitchens, sometimes with limited space and strict timelines. In Durban, moisture and salt air can affect equipment faster than people expect, so we need staff who understand cleaning, corrosion control and proper installation. Load-shedding also changes how projects are planned, especially where refrigeration and hot holding equipment must be checked and handed over with care.
- Punctual and presentable on site
- Comfortable working with tools, drawings and job sheets
- Willing to follow safety, hygiene and site rules
- Able to communicate clearly with clients and the internal team
- Prepared to travel to nearby areas when needed
How to apply with your CV
Send your CV by email through our contact form. Please include your full name, contact number, suburb or town, and a short note on the kind of work you are looking for. If you have qualifications, trade papers, a drivers licence or references, mention them in the email and attach copies where possible.
We prefer plain, clear applications. There is no need for a long cover letter. Tell us what you can do, where you have worked, and whether you are looking for design, site, service or support work. If you are already based in Glen Anil, Durban North, Umhlanga, Pinetown, Ballito or Pietermaritzburg, say so.
A workplace built around service and follow through
Founded in 2007 and based in Glen Anil, Durban, our business has grown by staying practical and keeping our word. That same standard applies to the people who join us. We want team members who take pride in neat work, accurate coordinatoin and proper handover, whether the job is a small repair or a full kitchen installation.
Every role supports the next one. Design has to suit procurement, procurement has to suit the site, and installation has to suit the client’s operations. If that way of working appeals to you, we would like to hear from you.
Why people stay with us
Commercial kitchen work can be demanding, but it also gives you variety. One week you may be measuring a prep area in a school kitchen, the next you could be helping commission cold storage for a hospital or sorting a fault on site after hours. People stay because the work is real, the learning is practical, and the team knows how to get on with the job.
- Exposure to design, installation and service work
- Local projects across KwaZulu-Natal
- Work with equipment used in busy food-service environments
- A team that understands deadlines and site conditions
